Tips to Improve Healing

Healing is an important process that everyone goes through. Depending upon the severity of the injury and area we can give general time frames until symptoms resolve.

As we are healing here are five tips to improve the process.

  1. Sleep/Rest - Sleep at least 7-8 hours per night to maximize the time the body has to heal.

  2. Water consumption - Hydration allows our bodies natural processes to proceed at a normal rate if we become dehydrated the bodies processes will slow down.

  3. Vitamin C - Eating foods like fresh fruits and vegetables give our bodies the micronutrients we need. Vitamin C is an important nutrient in collagen synthesis aka making new muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

  4. Protein - Our muscles, tendons, and ligaments need protein to build and grow. Making sure we consume between 100-200 grams of protein daily will help the body recover.

  5. Movement - mild to moderate exercise, movement, stretching can help the body recover quicker. The most important portion of this is listening to your body and doing the activity at a tolerable/pain free level.
